Abstract

Nowadays, the occurrence of crisis situations is increasing in society. Crisis situations are not merely relating to non-disabled people, we need to be aware the situations are equally relating to persons with disabilities. They have particular needs placing specific demands on approach to them, which is necessary to respect. Psychosocial first aid (PFA) can reduce the impacts of crisis situations, however in people with various disability categories it requires certain adjustments and an interventionist`s self-efficacy. The aim of this paper is to conceptualize content and specificity of providing PFA to persons with disabilities in crisis situations, on the basis of analysis and comparison of the findings. Furthermore, the paper describes the issue`s themes and proposes possible PFA applications into special education practice as well as into healthcare social work. The paper is a review study, authors employed a method of interpretative analysis of recent studies (articles) published primarily within 5–10 years using detailed procedure of review study processing (key words, inclusion and exclusion criteria, content concurrence, working with findings). Thus, the paper could contribute to more comprehensive elaboration of the issue by bringing PFA definition (specificity, themes, application) including contextualization and conceptualization of PFA in persons with disabilities.
