THE PROBLEMS OF NATIONAL IDENTITY IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION
Abstract
The processes of national self-identification and globalization are closely intertwined in the life of modern society. It is on this basis that their study and understanding should be carried out in correlation. Globalization is a complex set of factors of influence in the modern world, which determine, among other things, the vectors of identification processes. National identity is formed at the boundaries of multiple cultural worlds. The process of national self-identification is a complex and contradictory unity, unfolding in a multitude of coordinates. The presence of a large diversity of cultures is a driving force for the evolution of mankind as a whole, and at the same time is the key to intellectual and spiritual development of individual representatives of this culture. The problem of identity as an adequate (or inadequate) interpretation of another culture was formulated by Edward Said in his work "Orientalism." The article analyzes the problem field of the processes of national identification, national interaction in the context of post-colonial existence of national cultures and in the context of globalization.
