RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IS A HUMAN RIGHT AND THE SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH A VITAL NEED
Abstract
Man has always had in front of him the problem of eternity and has noticed that the priority given to the matters related to the organization of the eartly life, without the perspective of living the spiritual dimension of life, leads to man's confinement into the social and political dimension of life. Constrained by the limits of his own life, man feels the need to look for the Truth, fact which proves that he is made up of body and soul, having not just bodily needs but also especially psychic (related to the soul) and spiritual needs. Therefore, man is called to cultivate the spiritual dimension of life, by which he himself can grow, both intellectually and spiritually, and at the same time he can contribute to the beneficial transformation of those around him and of the whole surrounding world. This capacity of man ought to be cultivated even since school, through moral-religious and spiritual education. One can notice, by applying the analytical, historical and comparative method, that this education represents a fundamental human right, and the search for the Truth a vital need.
