Abstract

In the context of urban space, many new concepts now appear. There is talk of modern solutions used in urban areas. More and more information is necessary for the correct and functional management of the city. One of the most frequently used phrases is Smart City. Striving to create smart cities is now a priority. Improving the comfort of living is to be achieved thanks to the latest technologies. This is what Digital City is about to do. The digitization of the city gives the opportunity to determine the directions of the city's development. This makes it easier to identify problems related to this. It's easy to suggest a solution. You can then better take care of, for example, efficient communication solutions, security and proper energy management. The city, however, is primarily buildings. In order to manage them well, information about their technical condition, design, energy parameters and other information contained in the BIM (Building Information Model) documentation will be valuable. BIM technology is an important element in completing the database of buildings in the city. That is why it is more and more often mentioned about its merger with Digital City and the creation of Virtual Reality City (VR City) - a collection of data on building objects and space in the city. Terrestrial laser scanning is one of the methods of obtaining data about space. The article describes the principles of collecting these data and their use in creating a virtual city.
