ESTIMATION OF THE VALIDITY OF CRITERIA FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ON THE OBJECT LIFECYCLE

Abstract

Numerous factors are involved in assessments made to measure the influence of building investments on the natural environment. Most concern the period after a building development has been completed and produces a prolonged impact on nature during its useful life. As important as its future exploitation, there are factors connected with the production of building materials and structure, their transport and assembly as well as any other events associated with the execution of a building plan on site. Noteworthy is also the final stage, such as the demolition or recycling of recovered materials. Analyzing the object's life cycle, a group of the most important criteria covering the whole life cycle was determined. During the study, the validity of these criteria was determined. The diversity of responses from experts participating in research was also analyzed. The article presents a flow chart leading to the determination of criteria and the results of the assessment. The studies carried out have shown a fairly traditional approach to the application of criteria for assessing the environmental impact of construction works. This is confirmed by the highest assessment of environmentally friendly technologies and the lowest for the still not very popular use of recycled materials.
