ELECTRONIC TEXTBOOK EFFICIENCY IN STUDYING PHYSICS AT THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
Abstract
Active introduction of computer technologies which influence the improvement of students training quality within the training process of educational institutions is an inseparable part of modern education. The article considers the organization matter of the training process in Physics with the “Educon” helping as an electronic support. One of the most important factors significantly impact on the physics teaching effectiveness in high school is the students' willingness to cognitive activities, in-depth and detailed theoretical analysis the content and structure of physical theories. In the first courses of technical university that readiness is defined by the applicant’s mathematical preparation (in the dimension of future engineer’s professional orientation in education). Learning the technical sciences and mastering of original engineering skills depends largely on the consistency and fundamentality of physic -mathematical education in university. However, our experience with the students, beginning to study physics at the university shows that physics was perceived by them as the sum of some allegations, disparate empirical facts. Students do not know the theoretical models meaning in the physical theory, the theoretical generalizations role in the scientific cognition. For the formal skills of deductive conclusions, standard tasks solving is often hidden the ignorance of physical laws nature and their place in physical theory structure. The correcting task of first-year students' knowledge may be effectively solved in the introductory phase of learning physics with the example of classical mechanics, as this is the first physical theory which general physics course begins. Information technology application in physics teaching, combining traditional methods of training activity, gives extra opportunity in studies, in the independent individual and group work. Our educational system tools is presented with traditional elements of physical experiment and the elements of training process electronic support in the form of distance learning system: resources EDUCON; virtual laboratory construction; electronic textbooks and internet resources, multimedia teaching systems, electronic testing and other software to enable students to learn and to exercise self-control in learning. Methods: methodological basis of the study is the main theory of creative and self-development, individual approaches in educational process, expressed through the using of electronic technology, authors' researching results. Results: the effectiveness of using the electronic textbook and other electronic resources as a means for meaningful assimilation of physical theories proves the external testing results. The Tobolsk branch of Tyumen industrial university, since 2007 participates in the Research Institute projects for Monitoring the Quality of Education: Diagnostic Testing and the Federal Internet Exam in Vocational Education. Both projects allow an independent external evaluation: the first at the initial stage, the second after the completion of the discipline. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the electronic textbook. With the use of an electronic textbook, the teaching role changes, the tutor's main task is to support and direct the student personality's development, his creative search. Conclusions: the practice of using electronic textbooks shows that students assimilate the material qualitatively. The development of the information and communication educational environment represented by electronic educational resources opens the way for new methods in physics studying, thereby improving the educational quality.
