Abstract

Ever increasing demands on the complexity of modern buildings considerably increase the pressure to improve efficiency in terms of time and quality. In spite of its importance, there has not been sufficient emphasis placed on the project management research yet, but only on project management in general. An effective method for project management is to ensure the planned management of the whole process. All requirements of the project shall be pre-processed, as planned in terms of design and realization. Therefore, it is necessary to elaborate a pre-defined workflow schedule. During the course of the project the defined terms must be observed. The construction process brings together life cycles of the building from an initial idea, a design, a feasibility study, a location and orientation of the construction and financing through all design phases. The main purpose of each project is the final phase of use. The cycle of construction is finished when the construction work has been completed, followed by the life cycle of the use of the building. A large percentage of defects occur due to erroneous decisions or actions within the design phase. This is later reflected in the realization phase of the project or even within the use of the finished building. Therefore, these phenomena need to be eliminated as much as possible. This can be ensured by effective planning, coordination and continuous targeted inspection activities.
