RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, SOCIAL STATUS AND SOCIO-EMOTIONAL STATUS AMONG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN KOSOVO

Abstract

Today, we are giving away the emotional education of our children more devastating consequences. One of the solutions is the new insight into how schools can make the students fully educate them by combining their minds and hearts in the classroom, so the goal here should be to provide children with basic knowledge of emotional intelligence. This study aimed to assess the relationship between emotional intelligence, social status and socio-emotional status among high school students. In this study were attended school students who were between 17 and 20 years of age and the questionnaire for this research is comprised of 30 questions that were distributed in 100 subjects in one of the secondary schools in the city of Gjilan, Kosovo. Most of the participants belonged to the female gender 63% when 37% belonged to the male gender. The methodology of this study was used to integrate quantitative and qualitative methods. The correlation with the Pearson coefficient r was used to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence, social status and socio-emotional status. The findings of this study have shown that there is a link between emotional intelligence, social status, and socio-emotional status. The findings also show that the allegations with which the largest percentage of students agree that there are gender differences by looking at the averages reached by men and women in the context of emotional intelligence we see that women reach the highest average (2.5113) than in the context of social status, we find that women reach the highest average (27,145) than men (25,113) and in the context of socio-emotional status, we see that men reach the slightly higher average (4.3563) than women (4.41445). In the end, it can be affirmed that the findings of this study can help learners to find it easier to understand emotional intelligence and their social and socio-emotional status
