A PILOT STUDY EVALUATING THE EMOTIONAL RECOGNITION USING FACIAL EXPRESSIONS WITH STUDENTS OF SPECIALTY "SOCIAL ACTIVITIES"
Abstract
Social work is a particular type of psycho-prophylactic assistance to persons in a crisis situation or experiencing difficulties in adapting to changed social conditions. In the training of students in social activities it is of particular importance to know all three types of empathy (cognitive, emotional and intellectual) as well as their formation in the process of learning. In this sense, it is extremely important to include trainings for the development of these skills, their practical application on terrain. One of these trainings is specifically aimed at forming, building and improving the human emotional recognition skills as part of the complex process of building communication skills and building social intelligence. The article presents the results of the pilot study of Social Activity students for the recognition of various underlying emotional states using the WSEFEP standardized facial expression imagery and a set of emotional facial expressions from the University of Ohio. As a pilot study, the methodology for consistent display and determination of basic emotions, joy, anger, disgust, sadness, surprise, fear, and neutral facial expression in 30 standardized facial models was used. The facial expressions are formed specifically by the FACS (facial action coding system).
