ORIENTATION AND OPTIMIZATION OF RESOURCES CULTURAL HERITAGE MATERIAL IN DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN BANAT, ROMANIA

Abstract

The assessment of traditional components as part of the material cultural heritage is an essential element in the development of the cultural tourism. The south-western area of Romania, especially the Banat geographical area, on a rather extensive area, within the rural areas and small and medium-sized towns, faces a rather large economic problem. This was determined by the shift from a censored socialist economy to a free market economy, after which there has been registered a process of restricting the industrial activity, as well as of the mining activity in the area. Thus, the study aims to find the resources needed in order to develop another sector of activity that will help to recover the local economy. Methodologically, a series of steps have been taken by taking into account the acceptance and support of the population regarding the development of tourism in the areas where there are monuments registered in the national patrimony, by the Minister of Culture of Romania. The traditional cultural heritage of this geographic area has a sufficiently high number of monuments, and their specificity gives them a degree of uniqueness. This would preserve the hypothesis of recovering the local economy by optimizing them. The questionnaires were applied among residents, and the results reveal changes with each year, the trend being positive. After applying the questionnaires dedicated to analyzing the acceptance and support of the population's perspective upon tourism, the results indicate a rapid adaptation to local economic changes. The results of the study will support tourism, especially cultural tourism.
