PETROGRAPHIC AND STATISTIC RESEARCH OF MIDDLE BRONZE AGE CERAMIC IN NORTHWESTERN ROMANIA. METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES, NEW PERSPECTIVES
Abstract
Present paper analyzes the Middle Bronze Age Otomani culture`s pottery from Carei-Bobald tell settlement (North-western Romania). Our aim is to sketch an accurate picture about a large ceramic material, debate some typological and chronological issues based on statistics, chemical composition and the manufacturing techniques. The topics covered include the reconstruction of the technology used in pottery production, through a combination of optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).
