INCOME DISPARITY AS A FACTOR OF INTERNATIONAL MIGRATION
Abstract
International migration belongs to discussed issues within current economic theories and in international economy reflecting growth in migration flows in the EU and around the world. Sharpening income disparities measured by GiniВґs coefficient stemming from the LorenzВґ curve theoretical assumptions are also topical issue. In this paper we try to quantify relatedness between country-pairs income disparities, within countries inequalities and net migration stocks covering 27 member countries of the EU. The paper assumes a hypothesis about direct dependability between the size of migration stocks and country-pairs income disparities assessed by GiniВґs coefficients. The hypothesis is verified by static log-log regression model.
