IMPORTANCE OF LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES IN THE INTEGRATION IN ACTIVE LIFE FOR DOWN SYNDROME PERSON FROM ROMANIA
Abstract
Down syndrome (DS) and intellectual disabilities (ID) persons from Romania need to have leisure activities (LT) that can be a good modality to integrate them into the society. Also it can be a physical activity form that can take many enjoying form. Objectives. The purpose was to characterise the LT activities of persons with SD from Romania. Methods of research. The article brings into the attention the leisure time activities that can be the expression of being physically active of SD and ID, what kind of activities youths with ID /SD participate in during their LT, when and how often they participate. After applying and analyse the 78 questionnaires interviews (for tree group age: 11-14 years, 15-22 years and over 23years old with SD). The questionnaire was developing into the project ERASMUS + DSLEISURE. 2017-1-RO01-KA204-037465, a project that desire to develop a new methodology to teach and implement the LT for person with SD. Results. The results present the LT participation for DS in Romania, what kind of activities can access and prefer the DS and ID persons from 23 cities from all over the country. Conclusions. Romania social and cultural environment require to do more changes in order to help and assist the need for social integration for all its members (including the person with DS and ID) and especially for disable person that necessitate more support.
