ASSESSMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SITUATION AND WILLINGNESS OF URBAN POPULATION TO PARTICIPATE IN SOLVING ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
Abstract
Relevance of this work is caused by an increasing requirement to involve the population in solving problems of sustainable development of municipalities. This paper, based on the results of sociological studies, provides the urban populationВ’s evaluation of environmental situation and also determines its willingness to participate in solving environmental problems. The results show that the urban population is concerned about the ecological situation because of its contact with environmental issues in everyday life and is aware of the need of environmental protection. However, at the same time low social activity of citizens and the desire to shift the solution of most problems of the sustainable development of the territory to the authorities are recorded. As a rule, these are local urban authorities. To optimize the joint participation of local authorities and population of municipalities in addressing environmental problems in the municipalities it is necessary to organize collaborative environmental activities based on crowdsourcing.
