IMPROVING QUALITY OF EDUCATION IN THE FIELD OF TRAINING SPECIALISTS FOR TRANSPORT INDUSTRY
Abstract
The main feature of the new Millennium is the rapid development of innovative economy. This has affected engineering education, as the state and employers have formed new requirements for the quality of professional training of future specialists in the current socio-economic conditions. The article examines the requirements for employment and qualifications in the labor market of future specialists, analyzes the results of employers surveys. To determine new requirements for the quality of professional training of future specialists a sample survey was conducted among the management staff of enterprises that cooperate with Tambov State Technical University. The survey was attended by employers in the field of road transport, traffic management, control and supervisory activities, state and municipal management. They are interested in hiring TSTU graduates and are able to evaluate the proposed survey positions based on their experience working with them as temporary or permanent employees. According to the set goals the questions were divided into two thematic parts: basic information about the respondents and their attitude to the problem of improving the efficiency of transport activities and improving road safety; competencies that determine the degree of effectiveness of graduatesВ’ professional activities. The survey of employers showed that graduates of higher education institutions should have decision-making, communication skills, and be able to work in a team in addition to professional skills. Thus, the results obtained will allow to focus on formation of the most important, from the point of view of employers, qualification characteristics of future specialists. This approach will allow to train personnel for the transport industry, which will most fully meet the modern requirements of the labor market.
