EMOTIONAL INTELIGENCE AND COMMUNICATIVE TOLERANCE IN STUDENTS
Abstract
Future social and health workers will be implemented in a complex, multifaceted, difficult activity that needs professionals prepared to work flexibly and effectively with people who have social and health problems. ?hey are responsible for performing different social roles: provider of information /related to documents on social policy and practice/ generator of new ideas / in connection with problem solving/, partner in the process of communication, organizer, assistant in the performance of various practical tasks, facilitator, mediator. From those who work in the system of social work and health institutions are required a great number of skills: communication skills, teamwork ability, ability to resolve conflicts and problems, powers of persuasion and reflection. The effective solving of social and health problems requires a high level of emotional intelligence and communication tolerance. This necessitates in academic environment to pay special attention to the development of these skills. Those considerations provoked conducting empirical research on emotional intelligence and communicative tolerance of the future social and health workers. The research contingent comprises two groups of students from the specialties: "Social Activities" and "Physician Assistant". In order to diagnose the levels of communicative tolerance and emotional intelligence are used the Methods for diagnosing the general communicative tolerance offered by V.V. Boyko and ? Test for emotional intelligence, based on the modified test for emotional intelligence proposed by N. Hall. The report presents the results of this study. By a comparative analysis have been monitored the levels of their emotional intelligence and communicative tolerance. A vertical section of the relationship between emotional intelligence and communicative tolerance has been made. In this paper are proposed specific academic practices to improve the communicative tolerance of students about human diversity by including subjects, forming these important professional and personal qualities in them.
