Abstract

Social work has a negative image in public opinion. It determines important barriers for quality social work education and social work practice. The main goal of the research has discovered opinions students and social workers toward main ideas about social work importance and professional development. The research is based on sociological questionnaire of 445 students, social workers and other social groups (Yekaterinburg, Russia, 2015-2016). In result we have described students and social workers perceptions of advantages and disadvantages social work as practice. We have investigated opinions about professional basement of social work, profession image constructions. Research has discovered directions and impacts of a social work professional development. Social workers are restricted by organizational work conditions in their professional development, and they are not interested in new knowledge, communication and information. Students can definite specific and perspectives of social work development. They construct image of social work as profession, which has its own specific, qualification demands and professional resources. The research is important for construction of factors, which can improve studentsВ’ motivation and foundations of social workersВ’ professional development. Social work as profession could be changed on base ideas of social sensitiveness of social services on based using modern technologies and approaches, educated and qualified specialists.
