Abstract

Digital game culture belongs to the most important phenomena of the last decades. Special attention has been aroused by Role-Playing-Games (RPGs). In the course of time there has been formed a rather extensive subculture under their influence. RPGs offer a unique experience of existence in a different reality – in the made-up virtual world, where a human gains a new identity, new possibilities to „live“. In the paper we deal with mapping and typology of characters in RPGs and their connection to archetype roles. Crucial is the perception of projection as a psychic ability to project own psychic contents into exterior objects or fantasy.
