POLITICAL CONDITIONS OF FORMING AND DIVIDING JOINT FAMILY HOUSEHOLDS IN SLAVONIAN MILITARY BORDER IN 18TH/19TH CENTURY
Abstract
In her paper, the author analyses legal regulations from 17th, 18th and 19th century whose content might point to the life in joint family households. She compares the Vlach Statute, Military Border Rights and the General Military Border Law taking into consideration the inheritance matter and land ownership. From these categories, she draws political causes of forming, long existence and division of joint family households. Moreover, the author analyses joint households in the context of a military society which undoubtedly influenced the lives of joint family households in the Military Border.
