MULTISENSORY ASPECTS OF PLAY
Abstract
The paper presents the results of the first phase of research focused on the evaluation of effective factors of multisensory approaches in the field therapeutic education. The research focuses on -qualitative observation of interventions in people with autism spectrum disorder that were implemented in the year 2017 in Slovakia. Extraction of effective communication factors was accomplished through qualitative methodology using the Atlas software. Multisensory play takes place in a pre-prepared environment that allows for multi-modal stimulation as a communication tool even if communication cannot be achieved in a regular way. The results of the observation analysis point to specific effect of particular components of multisensory room and their impact on the area of communication. The findings are important for accurate and effective use of multisensory environments in practice. The paper is a partial assignment of the project VEGA 1/0598/17 Evaluation of the Effective Factors of Multisensory Approaches in Therapeutic Pedagogy.
