Abstract

The article summarizes the results of national surveys conducted in three Russian cities (Moscow, Yekaterinburg, and Chelyabinsk). Based on the results of the study, the article provides the overview how contemporary youth in Russia percepts the ideas about the cultural and historical path of Russia, the value field of actual Russian culture (moral guidelines, the basis of integration, spiritual unity) and priorities of the state cultural policy. The authors point out the key trends in the self-determination of modern Russian students, namely: 1) A compromise between global and local personal self-determination; 2) A focus on diversity and explicit interest in other peoples' cultures; 3) An expressed symptom of transience in the understanding of the present and awareness of the "deficit of the future"; 4) A loss of generalized trust in society and concentration on the "inner circle". Therefore, the fixation of students' estimates serves as a marker of current socio-cultural processes of our time. In this article, the authors address the problems of assessing the effectiveness of cultural policy. Strategic and tactical guidelines and indicators of efficiency of its development in modern Russia are conceptualized.
