ANALYSIS OF PROGRESS-REPORTS OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION ON PENSION SYSTEM OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

The process of Macedonia's EU membership requires undertaking concrete steps to follow current developments regarding retirement policies. This issue is not lacking treated in government programs or in programs of political parties running for executive power, however, it remains to be only in the context of daily political interests and unfortunately there is no sustainable solution. Since Macedonia's membership in the European Union requires a series of measures and activities, is immanent need to achieve a scientific research which will require a better theoretical solution for the retired population category. The paper aims to analyze pension policies in the Republic of Macedonia and the European Commission's findings in the annual progress report for Macedonia. In the framework of the research there are used descriptive method, historical method, method of analysis and comparative method. The paper consists to point out trends for finding the most appropriate solution through the building of policies, laws and institutions that correctly will deal with this problem. While results should serve the academic community, students and political stakeholders in finding the most appropriate solution, in accordance with real possibilities.
