HERITAGE EXPERIENCE IN INTERACTION. WEARABLE TECHNOLOGIES AS A TOOL FOR PARTICIPATION IN CULTURAL SITES
Abstract
The dialogue between Cultural Heritage and design practices is a recent theme in academic studies, the connection with fashion design practices seems to be still in exploration. In this regard, the paper is based on the desire to create wearable objects that are representative of Made in Italy values, which encourage the activation, the interaction and the emergence of new relationships between individuals and cultural heritage, exploiting the potential of digital technologies. The designed wearable products were conceived as a new level of information to be placed between the user and physical reality. They represent, both for the materials used and for the formal quality, objects loaded with tangible and intangible Made in Italy values. With these wearable products is possible to give users the possibility to experience Florence in an active and truly Italian way. The first step taken to develop the project was to identify the scenarios and context of use in which we tried to transform the role of the user by taking him as a cultural spectator to an active use made up of participation and sharing activities. The scenarios identified are three, specifically: Museums (history or science); Gardens (historic gardens of Florence); Workshops (Florentine artisan shops). The main objective is to construct a perceptive and participatory dimension, which can favor the relationship and communication between goods and users, bringing out the deepest emotional aspects guarded by a good, those that derive from its uniqueness.
