Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present the factors of organisational culture in learning organizations for providing of effective flow of competitive intelligence (CI) process. Through engagement into the cultural transformation process of the whole system, the steering group is enabled to create precisely the culture required for providing efficient CI management in the organisation. The study was performed in two stages. At the first stage, research was undertaken in the form of in-depth interview about the trends of the CI process at Latvian companies (N=12). The interview was prepared on the basis of the theory developed by Calof J. and Breakspeare A. regarding the competitive intelligence process and the role of organisational culture in ensuring of CI. At the second stage, quantitative research was carried out regarding the role of organizational culture in the implementation of competitive intelligence technologies in Latvian companies (N=39). The questionnaire was carried out based on the theory of organisational culture developed by Cameron K.S. and Quinn R.E. The results of the empirical study show that organisations in Latvia have a leak of systematic approach in ensuring of managerial processes. The process of competitive intelligence was usually spontaneous and unplanned; therefore, it could be superficial and unfocused. Besides, the study about the role of organisational culture in ensuring of CI Latvian enterprises shows that organisational culture can facilitate successful process of CI within the company. If innovations comply with main norms and values of organisational culture, if the changes themselves become a cultural value of the company, then culture plays a positive role in development of the organisation. Development of organisations has become increasingly associated with learning or accumulation of knowledge and experience, with the concepts of innovation and adaptation, as well as with implementation of constant changes determined by accelerated processes of technological, social, economic and political changes.
