STREETWORKING – A CHANCE FOR MARGINALISED PEOPLE
Abstract
A man nowadays lives in a world characterized by changeability, unstoppable progress and development. Political, economic and socio–cultural changes inscribed in the variability, apart from the positive effects, i.e. compensation for many civilizational neglects, also have negative consequences and affect the life of an individual or social groups. More and more problems and threats are emerging nowadays: poverty, unemployment, migration, addictions, family dysfunctionality, crime or other disturbing phenomena. Being lost in the world of changes, undertaking destructive forms of adaptation, a man starts to live beyond the social norms and principles. This causes a greater distance between an individual and society. Growing frustration increases the risk of pathologization of man’s life. Social workers try to face up these challenges. This article focuses on the specificity of the streetworking. It shows the advantages of this method in restoring of socially marginalised people to society.
