STUDENTS' PERCEPTIONS ON THEIR PRE-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING STUDY PROGRAM
Abstract
This study reports the results of a survey exploring students' perceived learning and satisfaction on a pre-primary and primary teacher education program at the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, Romania. Taking into consideration the fact that this program, called Pedagogy for Pre-primary and Primary Education, is new in this university, we think that such an investigation is needed and useful for the process of optimizing this teacher education program. The participants of this study were 22 final year students enrolled in the study program mentioned above. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire that measured the respondents' perception of learning and satisfaction. The respondents reported high levels of perceived learning and satisfaction in their teacher education program. Findings out about students' satisfaction with this academic program and their self-perceived competencies are going to be presented and discussed. Students' suggestions for optimizing the academic activities are also going to be analyzed. The findings of this study will be used to improve the teacher preparation program in order to provide a better professional development and higher learning satisfaction to its students.
