Abstract

Nowadays, there is an increase in the requirements with regard to the training of the future social workers in university considering the socio-economic processes in Bulgaria which are radically changing the social sphere and resulting in a more complicated professional interaction with the society.This triggers the need of finding innovative methods and forms whose inclusion in the educational process would lead to its intensification and better quality. In this respect, at university level there is an increasing interest towards finding new educational technologies focused on the full personal development of the future professionals. Each of these has its own strengths and weaknesses and meets this requirement to a different degree. The educational gaming technologies have proven in practice their effectiveness with regard to personality formation of students building their careers in different professional areas. Their inclusion in the educational process promotes the student’s cognitive development, communication skills and the formation of career – related personality traits such as self-control, stress-resistance, adaptability, self-independence and tolerance. Subject of this article are the formative functions of the educational gaming technologies as part of the Social Work Students Training Programme.
