Abstract

The authors of thepaperturned to the topicalissue of the collective memory. It is highlighted that the politics of memory or historical politics is a subject of transformationaccording to the present political discourse. Collapse of the Soviet Unionledto the revision of common history ofthe post-Soviet countries and deepenedthe contradictions in collective memory narratives between the Russian and post-Soviet tradition. It is stressed, that such 'strugglefor the common history' could often serve as a prelude to serious ethno-political conflicts. The authors conclude that it is vitalto promote the politics of 'synchronization of memories' of various social groups to build common future.
