THE FIGURAIVE POTENTIAL OF VOLGA AND IDEL HYDRONYMS
Abstract
The article explores the figurative possibilities of the Russian hydronym Volga and its Tatar equivalent Idel as aesthetically significant elements of the poetic works language. The urgency of the work is due to the lack of publications in which these hydronyms would be analyzed from the point of view of realizing their figurative potential in the artistic text, and also the need to consider this issue for a more complete description of onomastic units and further development of the theory of artistic speech. The aim of the work is to establish similarities and differences in the realization of the figurative possibilities of the Volga and Idel lexemes, functioning in the text of the poetic work. While carrying out the research, the following methods were used as the main methods: modeling, distributive analysis, semantic-stylistic, comparative, quantitative. The materials for study were the poetic works of the XIX-XX centuries, extracted from the national corps of the Russian and Tatar languages. The novelty of the work is in the selected figurative paradigms, in which the lexemes Volga and Idel are used as a subject of comparison. Three coinciding paradigms are established, in which the examined onyms are combined with lexical units related to the concepts "creature", "water" and "terrestrial space". The peculiarity of the Russian hydronyms is defined: in the other three models it is used with lexical units that are included in the concepts "existential", "substance" and "fabric". The specific feature of the Tatar onym is that it forms a separate model due to the rapprochement with the words included into the concept "light".
