NATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF BULGARIAN ENTERPRISES
Abstract
The new normality of individual and business life is increasingly built up under the influence of the key role of digital technology. Economic agents operate in unprecedented global engagement and continuously expanding business opportunities and information sharing capabilities. The information society transforms the restrictive conditions of place and time into factors of relative importance. Digital technologies go deep in a wide range of everyday and routine business processes and cause changes with significant economic and social consequences affecting each individual and business entity. In this paper the main dimensions of the use of computer and Internet technologies by the modern business units are summarized. The main aim of this research is to present the transformation in the Bulgarian enterprises, induced by the wide application of the information and communication technologies, and on this basis to draw the central directions for their use in the business. This paper made theoretical overview of the transformation processes brought about by the introduction of digital technologies in the business, as well as the ways of absorbing the momentary chances for efficient allocation of resources, are explored. The opportunities for digitization of business in Bulgaria have been studied, based on the value of the Enabling Digitalization Index for the country as well as the accessibility of business units to the Internet and its use by enterprises. This allows us to identify the leading role of digitization and information exchange as a key resource for achieving a situation where resource allocation decisions are a compromise choice that is the product of the comprehensive information interpretation capabilities for each trade deal. In conclusion, some of the key trends of the digital transformation of enterprises in the dimensions of the Bulgarian economic realities are outlined.
