MODIFYING THE BENCHMARKING METHOD IN ORDER TO INCREASE ITS USAGE RATE
Abstract
The paper aimed to discover several ways to modify the benchmarking method in order to increase its usage rate in Romanian enterprises. This increase would generate economic benefits for companies and for the entire society. Therefore, we have briefly presented in introduction several features of the modern benchmarking method retrieved in the specialty literature. Then we have developed a research in two fields: the academic environment and the industrial one. On one hand, we have collected the opinions of the academics who teach management subjects in Romanian universities regarding the opportunities to adapt the benchmarking method to the organizationВ’s needs. On the other hand, we have distributed questionnaires to experts in creativity management and/or benchmarking in small, medium and big enterprises. Of course, their opinions were partial different from those of the academics. We have to mention that a part from both categories of respondents have opposed to any change of the benchmarking method. But many respondents have suggested several changes required to upgrade benchmarking in order to increase its usage rate in Romanian economy and to improve the performances of organizations in different industrial fields. Whether it is about methodological, chronological or other kind of changes, we conclude that the management tools used in any organization or economic structure must be adapted to its needs. So benchmarking method can be adapted to Romanian enterprises needs, especially for helping to capitalize the human creativity and their other resources more efficiently.
