THE PREVALENCE OF THE CARIOGENIC BACTERIA AT THE PRESCHOOL CHILDREN OF KOSOVO
Abstract
Dental caries development is considered to involve a triad of indispensable factors: bacteria (dental plaque), carbohydrates (the diet), and susceptible teeth (the host) Since earlier studies the mutants streptococci are considered major etiologic agents in dental caries in humans. Strpetococcus mutants is a Gram- positive oral commensally species that is commonly recognized to be one of the primary organisms associated with the development of dental caries (cavities). In the study are included 240 children of pre-school age both gender. The presence of mutants Streptococci was determined using the CRT bacteria test (Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein) on the saliva previously stimulated by chewing paraffin. Bacterial counts were recorded as colony- forming units per milliliter (CFU/ml) of salvia. The number of bacterial colonies was graded as follows: Class 0 and Class 1 (CFU < 105/ ml salvia) and Class 2 and Class 3 (CFU ? 105/mL saliva) according to the manufacturers scoring card (lvoclar- Vivadent Lichtenstein). Results: Prevalence of SM at pre-school children of Kosovo was around 90%. Higher prevalence of SM we can find at children with ECC (98%), and lower at children without caries 70%. Caries Risk test says according to colony-forming from SM. Colony – Forming of SM could be with lower numbers (CFU < 105) which in our study they are being placed at children without caries (70%) and colonies with higher number (CFU? 105) which are more placed at children with caries (79%) and children with ECC (94%). The processing statistics while comparison of low and high values of colonies of Streptococci Mutants (SM) according to children group with informs significant difference of this values in comparison groups ( p<0.001). Conclusion: Preventive treatment of teeth with fluoride, especially at new teeth is preferred. The highest efficiency could be achieved with using of antimicrobial agents containing chlorhexidine and thymol.
