REFLECTION OF RUSSIГЂN AND EUROPEAN TRADITIONS IN THE WORKS OF SIBERIAN ARTIST-MONUMENTALIST V.A. GRIGORIEV

Abstract

The article explores the specifics of the work of the Siberian monumentalist V.A. Grigoriev, formed based on a complex interaction of various stylistic approaches. The main methods used are comparative-historical, structural-semantic, iconological and formal analysis. A special role was assigned to the practical definition of the inner design concealed by the artist in various symbolic images. The artistВ’s creative biography is closely connected with the city, distant from the general artistic environment that followed the requirements of socialist stamps. V.A. Grigoriev was a leading artist of the city and managed to fully realize his ideas in monumental and decorative works. It is established that in his artistic worldview uniquely combines traditions from the art of the European, Russian and Soviet period. In the architectural space of the city, monumental works became the epitome of a synthesis of styles and forms from the various artistic trends of modernism and postmodernism. In the creative manner of the author, there are similarities with the artistic style of such Western European masters as: Michelangelo, A. Matisse, Van Gogh, C. Monet, P. Klee, E. Miro, as well as the connection with the motives of ancient Russian ornamental art and the best traditions of Soviet period. It is determined that in monumental works the artist combines various techniques and materials: tinted concrete, mosaic smalt, picturesque painting, forged openwork metal and sheet dishing are used. All the works of the master are distinguished by an untiring innovative search and amaze with the variety of creative approaches in solving compositions and themes of the imagery. Today these works of V.A. Grigoriev are vivid images in the space of Zheleznogorsk and a unique embodiment of the synthesis of Russian and European art of different periods and styles. It is important to preserve the creative heritage of a wonderful master.
