WIFE VS HUSBAND IN THE LANGUAGE CONSCIOUSNESS OF RUSSIAN STUDENTS
Abstract
The article performed from the position of psycholinguistic school gives the full and detailed analysis of similarities and differences of the dynamics of modern family images exciting in the language consciousness of Russian students. Persistent interest to this problem is caused by anthropocentric focus of modern science and understanding that a person lives in the changing social and economic conditions that steadily find reflection in all spheres of life. A person perceives and fixes the world in his consciousness in the form of various images which he actively takes out from the objective reality. These images being the category of consciousness do not always authentically represent reality as they are formed under the influence of subjective tendencies, interests and ideals of the individual and are also painted in intimate and personal tone inseparable from personal life and culture. In our research we studied the dynamics of two family images – husband and wife – based on the associative fields taken from the Russian Associative Dictionary in comparison with the reactions, which were given to us during the associative experiments organized among 19-21 years old students. Associative experiment as a mean of investigating language consciousness allows to open the hidden part of the general image of the world reflected in the consciousness of any person. Thus the results of the investigation help not only to analyse the modern state of society but also to follow the value changes of young people belonging to different generations. The material presented in the article shows that the family image still constitutes a firm basis of world perception. It is confirmed by the significant increase of personally-focused, valuable and emotional reactions given by the young people. The dynamics of the studied images is noted by the appearance of new semantic groups of the associates that illustrate the new roles fulfilled by wife and husband within the Russian family and the realities of modern society.
