THE RISK OF ATTACHMENT INSTABILITY
Abstract
The article discusses the importance of attachment (emotional bond) for the healthy development of personality. It expresses a permanent emotional bond, characterised by the need to seek and maintain proximity with a particular person, especially under stressful conditions. This person is usually perceived as wiser and stronger and cannot be easily replaced with another person. Protection is considered to be one of the basic biological functions, one of the conditions of survival and healthy development of an individual. Outwardly, attachment is expressed through behaviour conditioned by the attachment, or by attachment behaviour, activated in stressful situations, or by a real or subjectively perceived threat. The purpose of attachment behaviour in such situations is to provide protection and proximity (mental and physical).
