Abstract

The main objective of this study is to identify the impact of labor force immigration on the labor market of Slovak Republic. The solution of this issue required an analysis and examination of specific relations within the labor market trends development in Slovak Republic (employment, unemployment, wage level, number of free jobs) and labor immigration. Several economic criteria are developed in this study and the effects of labor emigration on labor market are recalculated by means of mathematical calculations. The implementation of calculations is based on available statistical data from Eurostat, WTO, the Statistical Office of SR, Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family of Slovak Republic, Ministry of Interior, and on empirical surveys data published in professional publications. The study also uses general scientific methods such as induction, deduction, method of scientific abstraction and comparison, method of analysis and synthesis of selected facts, phenomena and processes. To recalculate the obtained data a range of statistical mathematical methods and translations have been used. The outcome is to determine the impact of labor force immigration from abroad on labor market in Slovak Republic. The results show the impact of labor immigration on employment and job occupancy, but also on other macroeconomic indicators of recipient country. Last but not least, this paper examines the motives of immigrants that led them to choose the destination country, which provides us with an insight into the basic characteristics of an immigrant person in Slovakia. Examining this issue points out to its importance for migration flows effective management in a country. The results of the study show the possibility to partly affect the maximization of benefits and the minimization of labor immigration losses abroad from the point of view of the target country.
