CROSS-CULTURAL ASPECTS OF 'SOCIAL COMPETENCE' CONSTRUCT

Abstract

The article concerns the most important feature of В«social competenceВ» essence as country cultural and social value and environment. The problem of social competence studying as a modern phenomenon is relevant and useful, because it defines the criteria of the individualВ’s success in all social life spheres. In scientific discourse has found a clear interpretation of В«social competenceВ» phenomenon essence, as an integrative personality quality that combines axiological understanding of social reality, social knowledge and skills necessary for the successful implementation of human social technologies, subjective qualities and personality characteristics associated with successful implementation of social technology in all spheres of human activity. Based on sources studying, own sociological researching results and pedagogical experiment, the author defines the following basic components of social competence structure: as social intelligence (social knowledge, skills, social reality adoption and social forecasting), motivational-activity component (social adaptation, motivation for socially useful activity, positive orientation toward the В«otherВ» person , confrontation avoiding, achievement motivation) and personal-subjective component (empathy, the ability to make decisions, accountability for results, criticality, value orientations, and standards compliance adoption with laws, self-development and education, etc.). Personality social competence is formed in the country socio-cultural environment therefore, there are some differences in its substantive components associated with specific features of the social mentality. Differences examples of intellectual and intelligent concepts in the value content of different cultures are given.
