MACROECONOMIC SITUATION AND BANKING SYSTEM EVOLUTION
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the recent macroeconomic and banking system developments for Romanian economy, with a focus on the following fields of interest: monetary policy, fiscal policy and banking system and what are the implications on gross domestic product dynamics and inflation evolution. In order to achieve this purpose, a macroeconomic analysis is being done and the interactions between these variables are followed. Considering the fact that Romania is also aiming at adopting Euro and becoming part of the European Monetary Union, the implications of adoption the single currency alongside the ability of fulfilling the Maastricht criteria are investigated. Therefore and analysis of the current economic situation and the gap between this current situation and the targets criteria is considered. Finally, the implication of joining the Banking Union for Romania is debated.
