GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING PROBLEM IN ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIOLOGY

Abstract

The problems emerging from the damage to the environment cause changes, conflicts and injustice in the social sphere. For this reason, sociology discipline deals with environmental problems. A result of the activities of humans, who have lost harmony with nature, which damage the environment is “Global Climate Change and Global Warming”. As a result of “Global Climate Change and Global Warming”, it is predicted that arid regions on the Earth’ surface will expand, erosion will accelerate, productive soils will decrease, desertification will start, and as a result of this, the scarcity problem will grow. Another possible result of the “Global Climate Change and Global Warming” is that the strength and destructiveness of natural disasters increase as a result of the increase in air movements. Those who will suffer most from the destructiveness of desertification, scarcity and natural disasters will be poor countries and their people who do not have a chance to learn about disasters beforehand and take precautions due to technological incompetence and financial impossibilities, and already live on the breadline, and have insufficient rescue and aid crews. As it can be understood from here, problems such as immigration, security, conflicts, injustice in the distribution of resources, which are the primary subject titles of Sociology, can/should be directly associated with the problem of “Global Climate Change and Global Warming”. In that case, “Global Climate Change and Global Warming” take an important place in the study field of “Environmental Sociology”.
