LEGAL REGULATION OF THE BORDER BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF LATVIA AND THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION FROM A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

The topic of the research is topical due to the contemporary challenges of spreading illegal migration, combating international crime, maintaining national sovereignty and territorial integrity in the context of hybrid war and other aggressive activities. The legal framework of the State border of the Republic of Latvia and the Russian Federation is being studied in terms of national border security and national security. The research uses the legal analysis method to study the legal framework of the state border with the restoration of Latvia’s independence in the 1990s, the historical method of studying the development of legal regulation in the beginning of the 20th century and the establishment of the Republic of Latvia and the empirical or descriptive method of studying legal practice and research results of scientists of the topic concerned.
