KNOWING THE FAMILY – THE BASIS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHER'S COOPERATIVE COMPETENCE

Abstract

The article focuses on the professional competence of the teacher to cooperate with the family of the pupil. It emphasizes the importance and meaning of the cooperation in the primary and secondary environment of the individual. The authors analyse the cooperative competence of the teacher and its contents with the emphasis on the communicative skills. The aim of this article is to clarify the concept of self-efficacy. The authors perceive this concept as the conviction about human abilities and all the possibilities of performing them. This quality significantly influences teachers in their way of thinking, decision making, planning and carrying out their educational aims. At the same time, the authors mention changes in the current family as the basis for the development of the cooperation between the teacher and the pupilВ’s family. They pay special attention to current changes in the area of family life: changes at social and structural level, changes in the dominance and functions of family, changes as a consequence of globalization (e.g. migration). They are perceived as factors determining the cooperation between family and school and, at the same time, as the basis for the development of self-efficacy of teachers in the area of cooperation with the family of the pupil.
