MIGRATION CRISIS: PROTECTING MINORS AGAINST ABUSE AND EXPLOITATION

Abstract

The paper explores the current challenges the international community faces in the context of migration crisis. The research follows comparative legal analysis standards and rests on the international legislation, national laws and legal administrative practices regarding the refugee child protection against exploitation and abuse in the countries that are part to the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. The paper aims to identify the issues that are critical for refugee minorsВ’ protection at the age of skyrocketing migration. The paper aggregates empirical data that comes from the questionnaire conducted by the Council of Europe Committee of the Parties to the Lanzarote Convention. The research explores the Lanzarote Committee State Members data regarding their legislation in force and current practices in the field. The research was implemented within the framework of the RUDN university participation in the Russia-wide 5-100 project. The paper theme and research findings were specified in line with the RUDN research project ? 201211-1-074 under the Russian Ministry of Education grant support in 2017. The authors of the paper in their capacity of the Russian delegation members have taken part in the activities of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.
