THE EXTENT OF SOCIAL SUPPORT DEPENDING ON CYBERBULLYING OF ADOLESCENTS
Abstract
The article address research focused on differences of the social support extent, which is considered a protective factor dependent on the scope of cyberbullying in adolescent groups. In particular, it concerns the social support provided by parents, friends, schoolmates, and teachers. The research has been realized in year 2014 on the sample consisting of 200 adolescent students of Slovak universities (68 man 132 women) by means of the Questionnaire of social support for children and adolescents (2002). The questionnaire has been supplemented with questions related to cyberbullying and to socio-demographic data. Reliability of the whole questionnaire has reached the value of 0,96. The outcomes of the research have undoubtedly shown the existence of the negative type of dependence on the extent of social support, which parents of adolescents suffer from. In relation to the profession of social worker, it follows that the lower the degree of social support on the side of parents or friends and schoolmates is, the higher the degree of required social support from the social worker is required. Based on these findings, the authors of this contribution propose certain prevention and intervention measures against cyberbullying.
