FOREST EDUCATION SYSTEM FOR SOCIETY IN THE STATE FORESTS NATIONAL FOREST HOLDING IN POLAND - SELECTED ELEMENTS

Abstract

The State Forests National Forest Holding (PGL LP), which manages the forest resources of the State Treasury, has a great impact and largely contributes to building ecological awareness of the society through taken activities in terms of forest education and the development of educational and natural infrastructure. These activities are an element of sustainable forest management. The objective of the article is to present the forest education system in Poland. For the purposes of this study, fundamental documents on forest education, its role and significance have been reviewed. The following thesis was formulated:“The forest education system, which is properly devised and implemented to the economic practice, is an instrument of creating the ecological attitude of society consciously and the determinant of sustainable forest management.” The fundamental research method used in the study was direct observation and a critical analysis of the literature on the subject.
