Abstract

In this paper the authors enhanced the importance of corporate social responsibility for the economic environment. We firstly made a review of several reference material exposing different research findings of the authors interested in the topic. Consequently, we expressed our own opinions and highlighted the CSR impact over community, without ignoring the risks and the importance of global consciousness. The results of this research show that this concept is not new for companies operating in Romania and our demarche consisted in presenting an overview of CSR current state. We consider that organizations should enhance the degree of consciousness on the sustainable development but also lessen the negative consequences on environment and increase the volume of positive actions. Businesses people in Romania could take for example China, which even though is considered a champion country in pollution, does have CSR ambitious projects that aim the environment protection, especially by massive planting of trees. We consider that by adopting social responsibility in private companies, they will be able to increase their competitiveness. Thus CSR will become a tool of “shared value” in the value chain. CSR reporting should fulfill all the requirements regarding its transparency and credibility. In this respect, it would be appropriate for organizations to audit their social responsibility and environment practices, precisely because they provide value for companies.
