Abstract

The actual task of modern economic education is to bring the content of curricula in accordance with the new achievements of economic science. This article discusses the results of a critical review of economic theory and practice, which is based on the experience of research into the latest global economic recession, and their implications for the study and teaching of the economy. A critical analysis of the basic concepts of economic science revealed an insufficient understanding of the process of economic change, one of the reasons for which was the use of a traditional analytical apparatus designed to study static rather than dynamic states of the economy. Modernization of economic education assumes a reform of economic science, which includes the rejection of theories, hypotheses and models that have shown their inconsistency, as well as the use of methods of the humanities and natural sciences in the economy. The interdisciplinary approach in economic education makes it possible to clarify the status of economic science, to overcome methodological individualism, market fundamentalism and mathematical formalism, to broaden the horizons of students-economists by studying economic history, the history of economic doctrines, psychology, sociology, political science, philosophy and natural sciences.
