ASSESSMENT OF THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE ATTRACTIVENESS OF VARNA AS A DESTINATION FOR CONFERENCE TOURISM
Abstract
Varna may have great potential but the city could not still attract enough conference tourists. The aim of the study is to estimate the factors influencing the attractiveness of Varna as a destination for conference tourism. The sampling group of the study comprises a total of 53 experts and specialists in the field of tourism. For the purpose of the study, a questionnaire has been designed to gather primary information about expertsВ’ perceptions of Varna as a conference tourist destination. To assess the potential, 13 criteria are used, which are related to the theoretical aspects and their respective indicators. For determining the quantitative assessment of the strength of correlation between the most important criteria about destination, a Regression analysis is used. Three problems are solved in establishing dependencies: (i) researching and identifying the existence of an objective link between the phenomena studied; (ii) selection of a suitable model for the presentation of the relationship; and (iii) defining quantitative assessment of the strength of the relationship. The findings of the study have significant managerial implications for conference destination marketing managers.
