SOCIAL CONTEXT OF STUDENTS’ MOTIVATIONS
Abstract
Students have different levels of motivation, some don not explanation of their goals, some students gain experience of social life during studying, and a small part thinks of self-development. This highlights sociological research of importance of social environment and social conditions and interactions during studying. Theoretical and empirical model sociological research, survey by questionnaire, interviews. Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg city, Russia. December 2013 – March 2014. Basic stimulus of students’ activities is defined by their social meaning of knowledge and skills. Main differences between students are their ability of self-organization and overcoming uncertainty. If student is not interested in self-development, we have to explore conditions for his/her social student activity. We have analyzed motivation in comparison following groups: 1) High education; 2) Middle professional education; 3) Middle general education; 4) Access courses, courses of foreign languages etc; 5) Extension courses; 6) Distance education; 7) Self-education. Motivation and development of students’ possibilities are determined by the social conditions. The types of motivation are modified in contexts of social characteristics of students.
