Abstract

The work examines the story of the Lanerossi spinning plant in Foggia, a case of a company that experienced the negative effects of the extraordinary intervention policies for the South of Italy and which, together with other industrial companies, arose in the same years and under the same auspices. a few years after its establishment, all the criteria on the basis of which the firm operated their strategic choices and the ways in which it implemented them had been questioned. The changes in public opinion and in the attitude of politics towards the State-entrepreneur, together with the negative results of the public economic sector and the crisis of the model of the large managerial enterprise, started a progressive process of decentralization and disintegration for the benefit of greater production and organizational flexibility, which led inexorably to the divestment and privatization of public industry.
