PREVENTIVE PROGRAMS AS A WAY TO OPTIMIZING CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE
Abstract
Within the project VEGA 1/0223/16 Classroom Management at Primary Schools, the research team, in the first stage, was studying teachersВ’ opinions on unwanted pupil behaviour. Following the partial project results, the second stage of the project was focused on the selection of an optimal model of classroom management. Looking for, finding and using the suitable programmes of preventive and intervention measures can help many teachers to manage the classroom more effectively and thus improve the classroom climate. Pupil discipline in the classroom community requires the teacher to focus on preventing the unwanted behaviour and intervention of already exiting manifestation of unwanted pupil behaviour. Specific programmes include techniques of behaviour modification in order to maintain an orderly classroom and mitigate disruptive behaviour. The paper characterises the selected programme for the primary school. This programme will make the education more effective through the implementation of optimal preventive measures and education towards discipline in primary school classrooms.
